What is UP to Good?
A fun and unique online benefit that will be this years’ only fundraising event for United Policyholders (“UP”).
Why should I participate?
People and businesses across the country need UP’s help to get a fair shake when insurance matters. Funds raised will help us meet the high demand for our advocacy, disaster recovery and financial guidance work.
When is the event?
Friday, July 17, 2020, beginning at 4 p.m. PDT (5 p.m. MDT, 6 p.m. CDT, 7 p.m. EDT)
How do I attend UP to Good?
Buy a ticket here by June 29th so we can get you your wine in time. We will send you an email with more details and links to join us live on Friday, July 17, 2020.
How long will the event run?
An hour and a half. It starts with a Zoom happy (half) hour party, then switches to a livestream program in YouTube Live.
What equipment will I need?
All you’ll need is a wine glass and corkscrew, a computer with a camera and microphone, and an Internet connection. UP will handle the rest.
What’s on the program?
The virtual event will be hosted by United Policyholders Executive Director Amy Bach and will feature wine expert and President of Wine Country Connections, Daniel Pressey, who will lead us in a virtual tasting of three lovely California wines from the comfort of home.

Can I order more wine after the event?

What technology will I be required to know?
The event will begin in Zoom, where we will start the evening. The program itself will be on YouTube Live.
How do I switch to the program?
Everyone will switch over to YouTube Live either by clicking on a link from their email invitation or directly in Zoom. The Zoom link will be entered in the chat messages for everyone to see right before the program is scheduled to begin.
Are there any tax advantages to donating to United Policyholders?
Yes! Specifically for 2020, the CARES Act expanded tax deductions for charitable giving. Those who take a standard deduction on their tax returns will be able to claim a deduction of up to $300 for cash contributions to nonprofit organizations like United Policyholders. Those who itemize their tax returns will be able to deduct 100% of cash contributions against their AGI. 100% of the value of Fund A Need donations are tax-deductible as allowable by law. Note: tax situations vary, so please consult with your financial advisor on your particular tax benefits.
